Research - The Collaborative Beginning
Our journey began with in-depth research and close collaboration between the Vuelabs design team and veterinary stakeholders. We used tools like FigJam to facilitate brainstorming sessions and align on objectives. This phase involved:
Mapping User Needs: Engaging with veterinary professionals and pet owners to understand their pain points and expectations.
Establishing Measurable Goals: Defining key objectives for each design iteration to ensure alignment with business and user needs.
Key deliverables from this phase included:
Moodboards: Visual exploration to align on the aesthetic direction and brand identity.
Personas: Detailed user profiles representing the different types of platform users (e.g., veterinarians, receptionists, pet owners).
Service Blueprints: Comprehensive maps outlining user touchpoints, back-end processes, and service interactions.
Roadmaps: Clear timelines and milestones to guide development and ensure timely delivery.
Competitive Analysis: A thorough examination of existing solutions to identify gaps and opportunities for differentiation.
This structured, collaborative approach laid the foundation for a user-centric platform that addresses the unique requirements of veterinary professionals and pet owners, ensuring every design decision was data-driven and purposeful.
The login process begins with user authentication, where each user is required to provide their credentials to verify their identity. After successful authentication, the system verifies the user's role within the clinic (e.g., administrator, veterinarian, receptionist) to determine their level of access and permissions
In case users forget their passwords, the application should provide a "Forgot Password" feature that allows them to reset their password securely.
This may involve sending a password reset link to their registered email address or answering security questions.
Dashboard
A centralized dashboard providing a quick snapshot of key metrics and activities within the clinic, such as appointments scheduled, patients waiting, pending tasks, and recent activities.
The Dashboard starts with a series of overview widgets that provide at-a-glance summaries of important metrics and activities within the clinic. These widgets may include:
Total appointments scheduled for the day or week
Number of patients currently checked in or waiting
Pending tasks or notifications requiring attention
Recent activities or updates, such as new appointments booked or treatments completed
Clients & Pets
A comprehensive database for managing patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, vaccinations, prescriptions, and owner information. It should support easy access and updating of patient information.
Each client has a dedicated profile containing their contact information, pet ownership history, preferences, and any relevant notes or comments. A record of all pets owned by the client, including their names, species, breeds, ages, genders, and any identifying information such as microchip numbers or tags. Each pet has a profile containing detailed information about their health, medical history, and care needs.
Users can schedule appointments directly from the Clients and Pets page, selecting the client and pet, specifying the reason for the visit, and choosing an available time slot from the calendar. Appointment reminders can be sent to clients via email or SMS to confirm the appointment and provide any necessary instructions.
Integrated messaging or email functionality allows users to communicate with clients directly from the Clients and Pets page, discussing appointments, treatment plans, test results, or other important information.
Calendar
Each client has a dedicated profile containing their contact information, pet ownership history, preferences, and any relevant notes or comments. A record of all pets owned by the client, including their names, species, breeds, ages, genders, and any identifying information such as microchip numbers or tags. Each pet has a profile containing detailed information about their health, medical history, and care needs.
Users can switch between different views of the calendar, such as daily, weekly, or monthly views, to visualize appointments and schedules over different time periods.
Messaging
Integrated communication tools such as messaging or email to facilitate communication between staff members, veterinarians, and clients. This could include features like in-app messaging, automated appointment reminders, and notifications for test results.
